We’ve all got technophiles on our holiday shopping list. And nothing quite gets people excited like tricking out their iPad. With that in mind, what kind of gift do you feed an iPad junkie? It can’t be run-of-the-mill, but most importantly it should be something functional and useful — something they won’t just leave on the shelf. And hey, let’s be honest, it can’t cost you a fortune! With all those in mind, let’s dive right into 6 affordable iPad accessories from IPEVO that could meet and exceed their holiday expectations. These are all available straight from the IPEVO Store at Amazon.

1. Perch M Side/Sofa Stand:

Perfect for the “techy musician”

perchPerch M is perfect for musicians who use the iPad for sheet music or other music apps. People who multi-task in the living room by flipping through iPad while they’re watching TV. Perch M also makes a great second screen setup for people at their computer desk.

Pros: Perch M is versatile and the ideal height for seated users. Forged aluminum construction is lightweight and ultramodern. And you can change the viewing angle and orientation by hand thanks to a dual-axis hinge.

Cons: It might be too big for certain applications, and you certainly can’t put it on a table or counter. But you’re still in luck: IPEVO also sells the Perch S, a smaller version for tabletops.

2. USB SuperCharger:

Perfect for the “dedicated teacher”

perchUSB Supercharger could be a big hit for teachers who use iPads in the classroom, as with 1-to-1 iPad programs. It would also make business power users and mobile entrepreneurs pretty happy. The entire small group — meeting at the bistro or in the conference room — could charge up as they present material or collaborate.

Pros: A single wall socket charges up to 4 iPads simultaneously. No hunting for wall sockets or extra power strips. This is a full charge at 2.1A, meaning you’ll get the same charge speed as with the OEM adapter; other chargers compromise on the amps for a slower overall charge.

Cons: While it can charge a single iPad just fine, you’ll need a scenario involving multiple iPads to get the most use out of this device.

3. PadPillow:

Perfect for the “avid iPad user”

perchPadPillow is perfect for people who web surf in bed or while laid out on the sofa. A top choice for avid ebook readers. PadPillow is also a smart idea for older folks with arthritis, as it can cut down on the wrist pain and sore arms that come from extended iPad use. Finally, because it’s soft and cuddly, it’s a safe choice for children using iPad for gaming or learning.

Pros: Comfort computing. A soft body pillow doubles as a support for iPad, other tablets, and ebook readers. It can be used in many more places than a steel or plastic stand: on the couch arm, in bed, on the carpet, or directly on the stomach. The pillow folds apart to make room for a keyboard, too.

Cons: While good for the car, it’s a little large to be taken in the carry-on bag for airplane trips. Train commuters and coffee shop addicts might also think it’s just a wee too big compared to folding folio-type stands.

4. PadPillow Lite:

Perfect for the “frequent traveler”

perchPadPillow Lite does fit in the carry-on luggage, so frequent air travelers in need of a comfy place to put their iPad on long flights would consider this a lifesaver. It’s also great on the train or subway, or to help keep the kids occupied in the back seat of a long car trip.

Pros: It’s in the name: Lite. This is a lighter and smaller version of the original PadPillow. Its size fits devices like the iPad Mini and Kindle readers. Available in Pink for the ladies, Dark Grey for the guys. At $12.99, you can’t really lose with this one.

Cons: The size makes the pillow stand more travel-ready for commuters, but some users may prefer the taller, plumper original PadPillow for larger tablets, particularly at home when size is not an issue.

5. 360° Rotating Folio Case:

Perfect for the “cool dad”

perch360° Rotating Folio Case is great for artists (professionals and hobbyists) who need to often switch between portrait and orientation. Same goes for salesmen and other businesspeople who rely on multimedia content and apps like Keynote to share, collaborate and present.

Pros: 360 degrees of viewing freedom thanks to a central pivot, making switching between portrait and orientation a breeze. A microfiber cover and genuine leather holder look clean and professional. And for a sleeker, on-the-go profile, you can pull out the holder from the rest of the case and re-insert it just as easily.

Cons: It doesn’t have the bells and whistles of more expensive cases — such as a built-in keyboard or all-leather construction. But at the price ($12.99 at the time of this writing), you won’t find a better case.

6. Tubular Wireless Speakers:

Perfect for the “outdoorsy friend”

perchTubular Wireless Speakers is perfect for teenagers and college students who enjoy streaming Pandora or listening to their iTunes library during study sessions. Also a good choice for outdoorsy people — hikers, swimmers, campers, road trippers — who would appreciate a compact set of stereo speakers to share the tunes instead of keeping the earphones on.

Pros: This compact pair of Bluetooth speakers comes in an interlocking tube design for storage or travel. It’s small enough to fit in a car’s cup holder. 6 to 8 hours of audio on a full charge, recharges via standard USB. With its stereo configuration, Tubular is a clear upgrade over iPad’s built-in mono speaker.

Cons: It won’t deliver the output or fidelity of a premium Bluetooth speaker like Jambox, but it’s a solid choice at less than one-third the price ($44.00) of Jambox or similar speakers.

Making Your PadPillow Holiday Gift Even More Special

Filed Under (PadPillow) by ipevoblog on 2013-11-25

Christmas is getting close and if you’re like me, you usually get your gifts as late as possible. Nothing gets the blood going like last-minute panic, right? But wait! You still have plenty of time to buy a thoughtful gift AND add a homemade touch. It starts with the IPEVO PadPillow.

blog_01blog_02
blog_03blog_04
So why do we think the PadPillow makes such a good gift? Think of the versatility! Who wouldn’t find a use for it? And it’s great for alleviating pain and soreness that comes from holding a tablet for a long period or craning your neck because of an awkward viewing angle. So, it’s basically a must-have gift for all the iPad users on your list, including kids (educational apps! long car rides!), commuters (planes! trains!), power users (space for a keyboard!), and bibliophiles — you know, the people who read in bed until they can’t keep their eyes open. It’s also a great gift for the elderly and anyone else with arthritis or special needs.

But don’t just listen to us — check out all the 5-star reviews on Amazon we’ve been lucky enough to receive from satisfied customers.

padpillow

Plus — here’s the grand finale — however unique the PadPillow is as a holiday gift, there’s a way to take your gift to the next level: a homemade cover to go with the PadPillow. Add extra personality and meaning to your gift with a custom cover using a fabric of your choosing. Here’s a couple homemade covers from Etsy. Cool, huh?

But making a homemade cover will take a ton of time, right? Yes, it’ll take some time, but it’s easier than you think, and you’ll score MAJOR points as a gift giver of great taste and thoughtfulness. And we’re here to help. Download this PDF and print it out, and you’ll have a full-scale template for cutting your own fabric to fit the PadPillow. From there, you need a little sewing skill and before you know it, you’ll have a truly one-of-a-kind gift they will love. Check out “how to make your own cover”.

Remember: get them something they’ll actually use day in and day out. And make it memorable. Give the gift of the IPEVO PadPillow, and consider adding a homemade cover for that extra-special touch.

5 Reasons Why a Pillow Stand Makes a Great Holiday Gift

0

Filed Under (PadPillow) by ipevoblog on 2013-11-10

The holidays are coming up again — so quick? — and that means figuring out what to get everybody on your list. We thought we’d take a little guesswork out of your gift-giving by sharing 5 reasons why a Pillow Stand can make a unique, functional, and fun holiday gift.

Take the IPEVO PadPillow Stand. It’s designed for iPad, tablets and ebook readers, and it gives the user a comfortable yet sturdy place to set their device while they’re reading in bed, surfing the web on the couch, or any number of everyday tasks. At only $24.95, it won’t cost a fortune, and it’ll be something they’ll actually use.

But don’t take it from us. Here are 5 reasons backed by comments from actual users who purchased their own stands on Amazon.

1. Easing pain and soreness

The iPad may not be “heavy” in the usual sense of the word, but just try holding it in the air or awkwardly cradling it in your lap for any extended period of time. PadPillow helps with these issues, and it’s also a great fit for the handicapped and others with special needs.

padpillow_blog_1

“Genius! This product is pure genius! My wrist was killing me from balancing my iPad while reclining, plus I couldn’t use both hands. I had no idea anything like this existed and I am so glad I found it.” —Victoriastars-5-0._V192240867_

“I have Rheumatoid arthritis and have a difficult time holding things for long periods of time. I just put this on my lap with my Kindle Fire on it and my hands are free and it is so comfortable. I highly recommend this for everyone.”—L. Constantinostars-5-0._V192240867_

“Perfect iPad stand for a handicapped person. No hard edges or corners allows easier use of the iPad for those with limited physical ability.”—frytzystars-5-0._V192240867_

2. Compatible with a ton of devices

With IPEVO PadPillow, it doesn’t really matter which specific device they have. From iPad Mini to Microsoft Surface, the pillow stand supports it all.

padpillow_blog_2

“Wife loves this. It works very well for the Kindle Fire and for our laptop, which is a larger one (17″ screen). Appears to be built to last as well. Great purchase.—GEA”stars-5-0._V192240867_

“We use this at home and in the car when traveling. It makes using a 10″ tablet (Android in this case) much more comfortable and easier. It does not slide off your lap and seems to hold the tablet really well. Works for any tablet, not just iPads.”—S.A. Robbinsstars-5-0._V192240867_

“Love this product. I sit in bed at night with my Kindle and love how this holds my Kindle. It’s much better than the “bead bag” ones I’ve seen and that my husband owns. He’s always fighting with the bag to get his Kindle in the right position. My IPEVO PadPillow holds my Kindle at a perfect angle and it doesn’t slide around.”—C. Carpenterstars-5-0._V192240867_

3. Great on-the-go or for any room in the house

padpillow_blog_3

Naturally, iPad and similar devices are designed for portable, on-the-go use. And IPEVO PadPillow is just as lightweight and travel-friendly.

“Great for on the couch, in the car, in bed, on the back porch. I love it, it is awesome and very versatile.”—Grace2allstars-5-0._V192240867_

“Take these on all our trips, it works terrific for reading or watching a program while sitting in bed. I bought pink (pretty color) for me and denim blue for him. Fantastic quality make and price.”—colleenwlstars-5-0._V192240867_

“After years of trying to find something that truly works for reading or watching on a digital device while in bed, I found this. My wife and I both love it. She binged on “Homeland” using it. I usually listen to Audiobooks with it.”—Tom Diazstars-5-0._V192240867_

4. Space for a keyboard

padpillow_blog_4

It’s pretty rare to find a stand which actually provides space for a separate keyboard. For those times you need a keyboard AND comfort, why compromise?

“We use this for our iPads! Even take it on trips! Reduces hand fatigue and accommodates a keyboard as well.”—Shirenastars-5-0._V192240867_Hardee

“Very helpful and unique due to optional keyboard use. The stand is VERY comfortable, lightweight and seems to be made with very good quality materials.”—Jolly Rogerstars-5-0._V192240867_

“I love it because there are many ways to use it. I can sit on the couch and watch a movie or TV episode without having to hold my tablet up. Also, It makes using the keyboard easier.”—kgirl03stars-5-0._V192240867_

5. People love it!

It’s often tough to find that perfect gift. Gift card? Too generic. Wine? Overdone. Toaster cozy? Classic gift recycle material. Give them something they’ll love and actually use.

padpillow_blog_5

“My husband gave me this for Christmas and I love it. Works great with my Kindle and iPad. The stand adjusts and makes it very easy to recline and read.”—Charla Astonstars-5-0._V192240867_

“I bought one as a gift for Mother’s Day and fell in love with it. Now I want one for myself.”—Book Loverstars-5-0._V192240867_

“I bought one for my Mom (she plays “Draw Something,” and does puzzles mostly) and my wife (who also does “Magic Puzzles”). They both love it.”—Chris Duffystars-5-0._V192240867_

“Works great and soft enough to use as a pillow. My grandson can enjoy his Kindle now without having to hold it all the time. Makes his Kindle experience much more relaxing.”—Tracystars-5-0._V192240867_

So go check out the PadPillow, score some big points during the holiday season, and maybe even buy one for yourself. You’ll thank us later!

How to Introduce Pets to Your New Pillow Stand

Filed Under (IPEVO, PadPillow) by ipevoblog on 2013-09-09

PadPillow and Max

Okay, so you’ve purchased a pillow stand for your iPad. Now you can support your tablet at any height and angle and be really, really comfy on the couch or in bed. All good.

PadPillow and Max

Unfortunately, Max is giving you that “WTF?” face. You realize you have to acclimate your pets to this amazing new accessory which will now steal your time and attention.

PadPillow and Max

First, show Max how soft and non-threatening the stand is. Adorably sad faces are standard during this process.

PadPillow and Max

He may resent your new cuddle buddy. A reassuring hug will remind him that he is also still soft and cuddly.

PadPillow and Max

Anger, revolts, and downright attempts to destroy your pillow stand might follow. Patience is key during this crucial stage.

PadPillow and Max

Max will come to regard the pillow stand as his enemy, and may bark, yowl, or yap from a distance. Just let this ritual play out. Earphones help.

PadPillow and Max

Eventually, after a couple of weeks, Max learns that he’s not really competing with the stand. He’s warm fur, and the stand is soft foam with a 100% cotton cover. Different universes.

PadPillow and Max

Aggression gives way to curiosity. You’re almost to acceptance…

PadPillow and Max

Getting even closer…

PadPillow and Max

BOOM! Max is his happy-go-lucky self again.

PadPillow and Max

And now you can enjoy your pillow stand… as a family.

PadPillow and Nibbles

But wait! Nibbles the Cat! What’s he doing here? He hates strangers even more than Max!

PadPillow and Nibbles

This could get ugly. He’s like a… well, he IS a cat ready to pounce.

PadPillow and Nibbles

But you’re willing to take a claw to the chest to get these two to play nice.

PadPillow and Nibbles

Is Nibbles actually liking the ease, comfort, and utility of the pillow stand?

PadPillow and Nibbles

YES! Now you, your pillow stand, and your pets can exist in multimedia bliss.

PadPillow and Nibbles

What’s that, Nibbles? You want to get one for yourself? The PadPillow is available from IPEVO.com in 6 cool colors. Unfortunately, catnip is not included. Don’t give me that face.

Filed Under (IPEVO, Wishpool) by ipevoblog on 2013-07-11

In December 2012, IPEVO kicked off the Wishpool initiative. Wishpool is a pioneering program of IPEVO intended to get education technology into the hands of more teachers by giving away IPEVO classroom gadgets for free. Through making wishes at Wishpool, educators from K12 to college can all have access to modern technology which can make their jobs easier and more productive.

As of June 2013, IPEVO’s Wishpool has received over 1,900 tech “wishes” and has fulfilled over 1,150 of them. Selected teachers have resided in six countries — Australia, the United Kingdom, Canada, Finland, Spain and the United States — and 42 U.S. states.

The flood of emails we received from passionate, hard-working teachers all across the United States and around the world really showed us that the right technology can make a huge difference in the lives of teachers and their students.

We have gathered photos and stories from the wish makers into this short video, in which you will see real life examples of how IPEVO Wishpool gifts made real differences in their classrooms. Join Wishpool to see more inspiring stories now, or even make your own wishes. Visit http://www.ipevo.com/wishpool for more information.

Three New Colors — The PadPillow Family Grows

0

Filed Under (IPEVO, PadPillow) by ipevoblog on 2012-05-13

Are you familiar with PadPillow? It’s the soft pillow stand that makes your e-reading and tablet computing much more comfortable. And now PadPillow is available in three new colors — Lemongrass, Honeysuckle, and Tangerine. PadPillow conforms to your body, and now it might just conform to your personal sense of style, too.

If you’re not familiar with PadPillow, this cushy triangular stand is made from a soft foam covered in an equally soft denim cover. PadPillow is for all those times you use your iPad or ebook reader away from the desk, whether it’s lounging on the sofa or reclining in bed. You can place it on the bed, the carpet, the arm of the sofa, or right in your lap. PadPillow can be used with all generations of iPad, including the new iPad 3, and it can also be used with other tablets and ebook readers like the different Kindles and Nooks. It can even be used with traditional magazines.

One more note: PadPillow comes in two sections which can be compactly kept together or folded apart. When folded apart, PadPillow gives you room for a separate keyboard if you’re writing emails or having an IM session, for just two examples.

Lemongrass, Honeysuckle and Tangerine (which are subtle shades of yellow-green, pink and orange) join the existing three PadPillow colors: Steve’s Blue Jeans, Light Khaki, and Charcoal Gray. That’s a total of six PadPillow colors to express your individuality while you’re getting work done or enjoying a nice, long read. Don’t crane and don’t strain: get PadPillow and enjoy a better way to read, surf, watch movies, and much more.

Head on over to the PadPillow product page. See how each color looks and read more about why so many IPEVO customers love their PadPillows.

iPad 3 How-To: PadPillow

1

Filed Under (IPEVO, PadPillow) by ipevoblog on 2012-03-27

PadPillow

In the handful of days since the new iPad’s (or iPad 3′s) introduction, we’ve been busy at work exploring this great new tablet computer. And we want to make sure you know exactly how to use your new iPad with all of our existing iPad accessories. We will release several iPad 3 How-To’s, and here is the first, everybody’s favorite go-anywhere pillow stand, PadPillow.

PadPillow is a plush, triangular pillow stand designed for all those times you’d rather be lounging on the couch, stretched out on the carpet, or lying in bed with your iPad rather than confined to the chair and desk. PadPillow has two sections, which can either be folded together for a compact lap or couch arm stand, or stretched apart to accommodate a full keyboard. PadPillow is so comfy you could use it as a pillow after you’re done using it as a stand — and believe me, we have!

Cushi

PadPillow is not so dependent on exact dimensions as other cases and stands, so iPad 3 works just fine with PadPillow. In the compact position, the leather IPEVO tag helps keep iPad 3 in place for viewing, reading or surfing. In fact, PadPillow works with all three generations of iPad, ebook readers like Kindle and Nook, and even traditional magazines. So for avid readers who enjoy being comfortable for long reading sessions, PadPillow is perfect.

And on that topic, one thing to note is the new iPad’s gorgeous screen. It’s the same 9.7 inches as the iPad 2, but it’s able to deliver an incredible 2048 x 1536 HD resolution and 264 pixels per inch. This is great for a lot of things — including gaming and movie-watching — but it’s also ideal for reading. Having checked out ebooks on the new iPad, we can say it’s a really, really nice experience, whether you’re just reading text or enjoying a full-color picture book.

So no matter what you plan on doing with your new iPad, we have you covered with PadPillow.

That’s all for our iPad 3 How-To series, and we hope you’ve found it helpful. As always, email us at cs@ipevo.com if you have any questions about how to use your iPad 3 with IPEVO’s family of iPad accessories.

The Accessory You Can Hug – Introducing PadPillow Pillow Stand for iPad

2

Filed Under (IPEVO, PadPillow) by ipevoblog on 2011-05-04

Hey, iPad users. Need a little support for your iPad when you’re hanging out in bed surfing or working, or when you’re sitting on the couch, or even on the floor? We had that problem, too. You shouldn’t have to be chained to a desk to enjoy the kind of hands-free support you’d get from a metal stand or portfolio case stand, both of which need a hard and stable surface to work.

IPEVO PadPillow Pillow Stand for iPad

Enter PadPillow Pillow Stand, IPEVO‘s newest member of the family. PadPillow is designed for your own body as much as it is for the iPad. It’s a super-soft, super-comfy body pillow shaped like a triangle—well, two triangles with a soft hinge, but we’ll get to that in a second. Basically, you can use PadPillow on your lap or belly for extended, comfortable use of the iPad. It’ll feel as cozy and huggable as a bed pillow, with its soft foam and its 100% cotton denim cover. But it’ll be stable enough to keep the iPad at just the right viewing angle for all your multimedia apps—Angry Birds, anyone?—as well as the movie-watching, emailing, and all that other fun and productive stuff you do.

IPEVO PadPillow Pillow Stand for iPad and iPad 2

It’s also pretty darned versatile. Remember I said it has two sections connected with a soft hinge? You can extend these triangular sections out and rest a full Bluetooth keyboard in front of the iPad, and then rest your hands on a comfy foam wrist support. Or, you can fold the sections together to make a compact triangle that’s great for your lap or, say, the arm of a sofa. In this configuration, a raised leather label acts as a stopper to keep the iPad in place. Pretty smart. In either position, you can use PadPillow’s unique shape to change the viewing angle just by changing the position of your body. Now that’s comfort computing!

IPEVO PadPillow Pillow Stand

A couple other notes: the blue denim cover is removable and machine-washable. We bet you’ll be using PadPillow as a pillow for your head at some point, maybe after a long day of shooting aliens or what not, so we want PadPillow to always be fresh and clean for you. Also, while PadPillow was designed for the iPad, it can accommodate many other types of tablet computers, along with ebook readers like the Nook or Kindle, and even regular books and magazines. So tackle that War and Peace novel you’ve always been meaning to—you now have a fun and functional pillow to help you get through the lengthier passages.

IPEVO PadPillow Pillow Stand

Try PadPillow out in bed, on the carpet, on the lounger or the deck chair, or on your sectional. We guarantee PadPillow will take you to Cloud Nine in no time.
